Artist Paola Pivi will open ‘Ritorno al futuro’, a new cycle of ACACIA Talks, at Milan’s Museo del Novecento on 18 September. The conversation will begin at 6pm and will bring Pivi into dialogue with Gianfranco Maraniello, director of the Museo del Novecento, with Dolly Predovic serving as moderator.
The series is presented by the museum as a programme focused on artists with established careers and cultural professionals. Its premise is to examine both the past and future of their work through a non-linear idea of time, inviting participants to imagine possible scenarios ahead. Pivi is the protagonist of the first edition.
Pivi received the Premio ACACIA in 2007. The museum describes her work as having been presented in international exhibitions and projects, but the event announcement does not specify which works or projects will be discussed during the Milan conversation. The talk therefore centres on an exchange about her practice rather than on a related exhibition of her work.
Predovic, identified by the museum as a collector and ACACIA member, will moderate the discussion. Maraniello’s participation links the event to the Museo del Novecento’s wider programme of talks and public events, listed under the institution’s FORUM900 strand. The museum’s current director has also been named as a speaker in other September programming, including a conversation on the relationship between artists Kengiro Azuma and Antonio Calderara.
The Museo del Novecento, located at Piazza Duomo 8, is dedicated to art of the 20th and 21st centuries. Its permanent holdings include more than 300 works, and its collection presentation is organised through historical and thematic sections spanning Futurism, art between the two World Wars, abstraction, Informal art and developments through the early 1990s. The institution’s programme also includes temporary exhibitions, collection-focused projects and educational events.
‘ACACIA Talks. Ritorno al futuro | Paola Pivi’ will take place at the Museo del Novecento in Milan on Friday, 18 September 2026, at 6pm. Admission is free while places remain available. The museum lists its regular opening hours as Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 7.30pm, and Thursday from 10am to 10.30pm; it is closed on Mondays.
