Bundanon will present 'The Art of Fashion: With Jenny Kee & Linda Jackson' on Sunday 6 September at 12pm, bringing together two of Australia’s most recognisable designers for a public conversation about creativity, friendship and their long-running collaboration. The talk will take place at Bundanon Art Museum in Illaroo, with Bundanon CEO Rachel Kent in conversation with the pair.

The event is part of a broader fashion-focused program that Bundanon is staging across the same weekend, including a 'Fashion Stay Weekend' running from 5–6 September and the 'Galah Gala' special event on the evening of Saturday 5 September. The museum’s programme materials frame the weekend as a new offering in Bundanon’s annual calendar, linking fashion with identity, culture and place.

According to Bundanon, Kee and Jackson first met in the 1970s as young designers with a shared interest in colour and artistry. Their partnership went on to redefine Australian fashion through the Flamingo Follies parades and through an influence on fashion, design and craft that the organisation says is still felt today. The upcoming talk is set to focus on both the personal and professional sides of that story.

The website also positions the event within the designers’ larger histories. Jenny Kee is described by Bundanon as a pioneer of Australian style and an internationally acclaimed artist and designer whose work has appeared across silk, paper, wool, cotton, ceramics and canvas over more than 40 years. The site notes that her practice has been shaped by influences ranging from Aboriginal Australian to early European traditions, alongside arts from Africa, India, Asia and South America.

Linda Jackson is presented as a fashion designer and artist who studied fashion design at Emily McPherson College and photography at Prahran Technical College before travelling through New Guinea, Asia and Europe and working for Parisian couture house Mia-Vicky. Bundanon says Jackson met Kee in 1973, and that the two formed a partnership through the boutique Flamingo Park in Sydney’s Strand Arcade, where they shared a passion for vintage fashion and the skill of bespoke and handmade work.

The event page includes a quotation attributed to Kee and Jackson about their shared aesthetic, saying that their “reckless love and unbridled passion” for the diversity of the civilised world, together with the beauty of the natural world, provided stimulus for their individual but connected design practice. The page also reproduces a 1982 image of Linda Jackson, Peter Tully and Jenny Kee photographed by William Yang.

Tickets for 'The Art of Fashion: With Jenny Kee & Linda Jackson' are priced at $18 for adults, $12 for concession holders and free for members. The talk is scheduled for 6 September 2026 at Bundanon Art Museum, 170 Riversdale Road, Illaroo, NSW 2540.
