Das Kunstmuseum Waldviertel in Schrems has announced a three-hour workshop titled 'Die Zauberflöte' for 8 August 2026, inviting adults and young people to make their own Obertonflöte, or natural overtone flute. The session is scheduled from 14:00 to 17:00 at the museum’s atelier, with a workshop fee of €55 that includes the flute, pedagogical guidance, materials and admission to the exhibition.

According to the museum, the workshop is framed by the current annual exhibition 'Magie des Schönen | Warlamis - W.A. Mozart', which runs from 21 March 2026 to 10 January 2027. The museum says this exhibition year is devoted to the world of W. A. Mozart and to a large pictorial universe created by Makis Warlamis, the museum founder and artist, around 20 years ago. The exhibition combines large-format works with sound impressions, video, installations and dance.

The workshop itself is built around the overtone flute as a simple, low-threshold instrument. The museum describes it as a flute without finger holes that can be played by anyone, with tones produced entirely by breath. Participants are invited to transform an unworked flute into a playable object by removing the bark, sanding the wood, adding acrylic paint or burned ornaments, and finishing it with a protective shellac coating.

The museum says the activity is intended to blend music, art and nature, and that the varying blowing pressure on the instrument can support diaphragmatic breathing and has a calming, meditative effect. The finished flute can be taken home at the end of the workshop, turning the class into both a creative session and a take-away craft project.

The event page lists the course as suitable for adults and young people, and the museum notes that the workshop takes place in the context of its broader programme of creative courses. It also says that the entrance fee to the exhibition is included in the course price, encouraging participants to arrive early and spend time with the artworks before the session begins.

Booking information is provided through the museum by telephone at 02853/72888, by email at info@daskunstmuseum.at, or online. The museum adds that places are limited and recommends registering in advance. The workshop is listed at Das Kunstmuseum Waldviertel, Mühlgasse 7a, 3943 Schrems, Austria.
