The Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn will present ‘Touch/ing Transformation’, an interactive media installation exploring sustainability through art, design and science. The installation will be on view in the institution’s Medienkunstraum from 16 September 2026 through 7 January 2027, with free admission.
The project will make more than 50 initiatives accessible through interviews, videos, photographs and texts. Its presentation is built around large-scale touch walls, allowing visitors to engage with information on sustainability through an interactive format rather than a conventional display of artworks or objects.
According to the Bundeskunsthalle, the projects address the connections between shaping the world, social well-being and planetary health. The installation frames sustainability as a subject that can be experienced, imagined and implemented collectively during a period of social and environmental change.
‘Touch/ing Transformation’ will be shown in the Medienkunstraum, located in the museum’s basement. The space is dedicated to media-based artistic formats, and the installation’s combination of digital interfaces, visual documentation, recorded interviews and written material places artistic practice alongside research and design approaches.
The presentation forms part of the Bundeskunsthalle’s wider 2026 programme, which includes exhibitions and events spanning contemporary art, cultural history, live performance and public debate. The institution’s programme also lists ‘Interactions 2026’, an exhibition running from 1 May to 1 November 2026, and the ‘Bonn Summit: European Forum on Culture and Politics’, scheduled for 16–18 September. These programmes are separate from ‘Touch/ing Transformation’.
The installation will open on 16 September and remain accessible until 7 January 2027. Admission is free throughout its run at the Bundeskunsthalle’s Medienkunstraum in Bonn.
