Christine Sun Kim will present ‘FOR EVER’, a new site-specific commission at Mudam Luxembourg, opening on 24 September 2026. The exhibition will remain on view from 25 September 2026 through 10 January 2027 at the contemporary art museum in Luxembourg City.
The work has been created in response to the chapel-like architecture of Mudam’s Henry J. and Erna D. Leir Pavilion. According to the museum, the commission is conceived as a monument to the longevity and resilience of Deaf culture and its community. The announcement does not specify the materials, dimensions or precise installation of the work.
By describing ‘FOR EVER’ as site-specific, Mudam places the pavilion’s architecture at the centre of the commission. The project is presented not as a standalone work transferred from another setting, but as an artistic response to the particular character of one of the museum’s exhibition spaces. The source material gives no further details about the process through which Kim developed the work or how visitors will encounter it.
Mudam, formally the Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, identifies itself as Luxembourg’s contemporary art museum. Its public programme includes exhibitions, performances, events, tours and engagement activities, alongside access to its collection, library and architectural resources. ‘FOR EVER’ will form part of the museum’s exhibition programme for the 2026–27 season.
The commission will open on the same evening as ‘Kaihō: Japanese Women Artists after 1945’, an exhibition organised by Mudam in collaboration with Lenbachhaus Munich and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. ‘Kaihō’ will survey the work of 39 women artists from Japan, bringing together more than 120 works across five thematic chapters and running from 25 September 2026 to 14 February 2027. It is a separate exhibition from Kim’s commission.
Mudam’s announcement lists the opening of both exhibitions for Thursday, 24 September 2026, at 18:00. ‘FOR EVER’ will be presented at Mudam Luxembourg, 3 Park Dräi Eechelen, L-1499 Luxembourg-Kirchberg, through 10 January 2027.
