Adrian Duncan’s ‘Buildings from a Novel’ is among five exhibitions scheduled to open when the Royal Hibernian Academy’s galleries reopen in Dublin on Friday 11 September 2026. The announcement, issued by the RHA on 17 August, gives no further details about the exhibition’s works, themes, format or duration.
The exhibition will be presented at the Royal Hibernian Academy, whose galleries are located at Gallagher Gallery, 15 Ely Place, Dublin 2. The RHA’s newsletter says the galleries are currently closed and will welcome visitors again from 11am on 11 September, when the new exhibition programme begins.
‘Buildings from a Novel’ is listed alongside Una Sealy RHA’s ‘Time Lines: Selected Works 2016–26’, Maïa Nunes’s ‘Lake Burst’, ‘Cnuasach’, curated by Sinéad Ní Mhaonaigh PRHA, and Fionn McCann’s ‘Deconstructing a Mountain’. The RHA’s own What’s On listings give dates for three of those projects — Una Sealy’s exhibition runs 11 September to 20 December 2026, Nunes’s 11 September to 25 October and McCann’s 11 September to 8 November — while neither Duncan’s exhibition nor ‘Cnuasach’ has a dedicated listing on the RHA site at the time of writing.
The reopening programme places Duncan’s exhibition within an artist-led institution that describes its mission as supporting artists, staging free public exhibitions and providing training in the visual arts. The academy, founded in 1823, describes itself as artist-run and occupies a modern building in central Dublin with eight gallery spaces and multiple studios used for RHA School courses and artist residencies.
The RHA’s current visitor information lists gallery hours as Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 5pm, Sunday from noon to 5pm, with late opening on Wednesdays from 11am to 7pm; the galleries are closed on Mondays. The institution states that admission is always free and that the building is fully wheelchair accessible.
The newsletter also mentions the RHA School Studio Residency 2026/2028, awarded to Fingal artist Aideen Farrell, and collection arrangements for work from the 196th RHA Annual Exhibition. Those items are separate from the exhibition announcement. For ‘Buildings from a Novel’, the confirmed information is its inclusion in the RHA’s five-exhibition reopening programme and its scheduled opening at 11am on Friday 11 September 2026.
